Ransomware gang plans to call victim's business partners about attacks

The group behind the REvil Ransomware has started to use two new tactics to extort ransom from victims. One of these tactics is to call the victim’s business partners as well as the media to inform them of the ransomware attack. The other tactics used to further pressure a victim to pay the ransom are Layer 3 and Layer 7 DDoS attacks. A Layer 3 DDoS attack can be used to disrupt and take down an internet connection, and a Layer 7 DDoS attack can be used to take down applications accessible from the internet.
