After years of creating apps like Allo, Chat, Hangouts, Duo, Meet, and others, Google is merging and minimizing its chat and video apps yet again. Last month Google announced the merger between their two video apps, Meet and Duo. Now they've announced the merger of their Meets and Hangouts apps.
Taking the best features from both Hangouts and Chat, the single app should bring much-anticipated features like direct calls to chat and being able to send and view multiple images.
If you haven't yet received a notification, you soon will move from Hangouts to Google Chat, with mobile apps making the switch now, and later in October, the web version of hangouts will redirect users to Google Chat.
