Emotet malware now steals your email attachments to attack contacts

According to James Quinn, a threat researcher at Binary Defense, Emotet malware is now capable of stealing attachments from your emails, and then using it in spam emails to make them look more legitimate. It was previously reported that Emotet was stealing email body text to do the same thing. Since July 17, a botnet amassed by devices infected with Emotet has been sending huge amounts of spam emails that look like payment reports, invoices, shipping information, and job opportunities. Microsoft claims that as many as 500,000 emails are being sent every day from this botnet. These emails contain malicious links and attachments that can infect your computer with Emotet, which can then be used to spread other malware and ransomware!
